Roger Dubuis translates the movements of the sky into new horological creations at the crossroads of celestial observation and Genevan savoir-faire.

The Maison presents four timepieces that translate celestial cycles: a biretrograde perpetual calendar in pink gold powered by the new RD850 calibre, a steel biretrograde calendar dressed in Cosmic Blue, a perpetual calendar paired for the first time with the patented Quatuor mechanism, and a central tourbillon conceived within the Rarities programme.

  • In 1989, Mr. Roger Dubuis co-patented his biretrograde display with Jean-Marc Wiederrecht, and in 1996 it appeared on the very first creations of the Maison. Thirty years later, the RD850, developed entirely in-house at the Manufacture in Geneva, perpetuates that signature with an astronomical Moonphase and a month corector.   The founder’s conviction still holds: complications should serve legibility.   • Some details ask for a closer look. The fluting of the bezel falls sharp and precise, like a sword strike. The triple-lug case identifies the Maison at first glance. Skeleton hands in pink gold carry a satin brushed finish and varnished tips. On the w-shaped bridges of the retrograde mechanisms, at 3 and 9 o’clock, the inner anglage appears fourteen times, pressed and polished by hand. The Mooonphase closes the sequence in blue aventurine, under a domed pink gold moon.   • Meeting this complication is a way of meeting Mr. Roger Dubuis, who held the perpetual calendar as his most cherished pursuit. Inside the RD850, a cam-and-lever system gauges the length of each month, 28, 30 or 31 days, and advances without correction until the year 2100. Day and date describe their elliptic arcs before retracting to their starting point, while a new month corrector sets the indication with one simple adjustment.   The calendar espouses the irregular rhythm of the astronomical year, faithfully and without interruption.   Ref.
