Ms Whitbread was appointed to the Board as a Non-executive Director in 2021. She is a member of the Governance and Sustainability Committee, and was a member of the Nominations Committee until April 2022. Since February 2022 she serves as the Chair of the Governance and Sustainability Committee.
She was awarded a Bachelor of Arts Degree and an Honorary Doctorate of Laws from the University of Bristol and completed the Executive Programme at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Ms Whitbread is an experienced Non-executive Director with 20 years of experience in Sustainability and ESG issues. She has a leadership and management background spanning marketing, technology, finance, media, telecommunications and not-for-profit organisations. She has previously served as CEO of Save the Children International from 2010 to 2015 and London First from 2016 to March 2021. She also served as a Non-executive Director of BT Group PLC from 2011 to 2019 where she was a member of the Audit and Risk Committee and chaired the Digital Impact & Sustainability Committee. She was an advisor to Richemont’s Governance and Sustainability Committee and its precursor from 2020 to 2021. She was a Non-executive Director, Chair of the Culture & Sustainability Committee and a member of the Nomination and Remuneration Committees of Standard Chartered PLC from 2015 to May 2023.
Ms Whitbread is currently Non-executive Chair of Travis Perkins PLC since March 2021. She is also Non-executive Director, Chair of the Compensation Committee and a member of the Sustainability Committee of WPP PLC since 2019.
