External Recognition
During the year, many of our Maisons received awards in recognition of product excellence, customer service and environmental performance. Some of our highlights include:
- Alfred Dunhill was awarded the ‘British Luxury Overseas Award for Excellence’ at the 2008 Walpole Awards in London.
- Among 31 awards in 2009, Jaeger-LeCoultre received award at Grand Prix de Genève for Best complication watch. The Maison also received the ‘Golden Wheel Award 2009’ for its ‘Reverso’ watch voted for by watch enthusiasts, dealers and media across Hong Kong and China, ‘Uhr des Jahres 2009’ in Germany, ‘Argò Watch Prize 2008’ in Italy and a number of awards in the 2008 Viennatime and Munichtime Galas.
- Jaeger-LeCoultre received an award for its efforts to reduce traffic congestion in the Vallée de Joux, the location of its Manufacture.
- Cartier boutiques in Paris and Barcelona obtained first and second positions for customer service in a European survey carried out by ‘Tre Cento Sessanta Gradi’, an Italian company specialising in customer service.
- Cartier Horlogerie, Cartier's watch manufacturing operations in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, received a certificate of distinction in sustainability from the local authorities (Canton de Neuchâtel - Prix PRIDE) for its comprenhensive approach to responsible transportation solutions for employees"
- IWC Schauffhausen Beverly Hills’ boutique was selected for the ‘2008 City of Beverly Hills Architectural Design Award’, an honour it shared with adjoining boutiques for Jaeger-LeCoultre and Officine Panerai.
- Vacheron Constantin won ‘Best Tourbillon of the Year’ with the Malte Tourbillon Regulator at the 2008 Premier Middle East Watches, Jewellery & Pens Awards and the ‘Men’s Watch’ category at the 2008 Grand Prix d’Horlogerie of Geneva for the Quai de l’Ile model. Its websites won a total amount of seven awards, including the ‘2008 Online Community Standard of Excellence’ and the ‘2008 Outstanding Website Award’ as voted for by the Web Marketing Association. More recently, its dedicated website www.quaidelile.com won the '15th Annual Communicator Award' honouring creative excellence for communications professionals and reached third position on Design Chart awarding websites that are a cut above the rest in terms of design. In 2009, Vacheron Constantin was awarded the 'Vogue Jewels Award 2009' in Spain in the category 'Best Jewel Watch' for the impressive world record 170 carats model Kallania. Vacheron Constantin Quai de l'Ile won the 'Actualidad Economica', a Spanish economic newspaper prize for the category of 'Best Idea of the Year'.
- Piaget has been honoured by two awards for excellence: one for its Magic Hour watch ( Ladies’ Watch of the Year”) , and the other for the Altiplano Petite Seconde, which won the 1st Jury Prize in the “2008 Watch of the Year” awards . The Piaget Emperador received the Middle East Watch of the Year Awards 2007, organised by Alam Assaat Wal Moujawharat Magazine.
- For six years, Piaget has been sponsoring the best jewellery school in France, the "Ecole de Joaillerie de la rue du Louvre" in Paris (Ecole BJO) with Piaget promotions in 2006 and 2009 . The students are supported for four years and are financed for some trips to fairs and the Geneva Manufacture. Each year, two students work in our high hewellery workshop and in our design studio. The French Manufacturers Federation ( Union Française BJOP) is running a yearly national contest among all the students at the master level in the jewellery field. This award is named Prix Jacques Lenfant - Jacques Lenfant was a famous French jeweller who devoted his time and skills to train young jewellers. On 29 June, Amar Nasser, a "Piaget" student received this award. One month earlier, he also received the Piaget award as the best student of his class.
- A. Lange & Söhne's ‘Cabaret Tourbillon’ watch won ‘Watch of the Year 2009’ at Baselworld, the international trade fair for the watch and jewellery industry. The award resulted from a vote by readers of the important German language watch magazine, 'ARMBANDUHREN' and the German weekly magazine 'Welt am Sonntag'.
- The 'Thirty-One-Day' watch model. 'LANGE 31'. was considered as the “Best of the Best” in June 2008 by readers of the famous international lifestyle magazine 'Robb Report'.
- The LITTLE LANGE 1 'Soiree' was awarded the “Best Ladies Watch” by the Asian edition of the Grand Prix d’Horlogerie de Genève” (GPHG) in September 2009 in Hong Kong. The exhibition and the awards were organised by Edipresse Singapore, publishers of 'Singapore Tatler'; Singapore has always been a leading location for watch connoisseurs.
- In November 2008, readers of the economic Austrian magazine 'FORMAT' and a VIP jury awarded the 'GRAND LANGE 1' from A. Lange & Söhne with the “CHRONO AWARD” in the category 'Success'.
- Every year at the time of 'Le Salon International de la Haute Horlogerie' (SIHH) held in Geneva, the Japanese watch magazine 'Chronos' asks the VIP watch journalists 'which watch they would love to own themselves?' In 2009 the answer was the “GRAND 1815” by A. Lange & Söhne being considered 'the most attractive watch of the SIHH'.
